Facts, Thoughts, and Opinions About Web Development and Business Strategy

As a Microsoft Web developer for 11 years, I have worked with many Small Businesses
and Corporations across the United States. While my target task is to program reliable
and dependable business Websites for my clients, I get involved in so much more
than that.
Small people usually have small budgets. As a result, one Web guru (i.e. me) takes
on tasks that are normally segmented in to different production duties at larger
companies. As I always like to say, when you work for a small business you become
their computer guy. Anything that deals with computers is a "Rob" duty.
Thus, I get my hands dirty with all kinds of things that fall outside of what I
technically do for a living - developing business applications with Microsoft Technologies
for small businesses.
I like to write. I am not going to say I am the best in the world at it but I also
feel that the quality of writing in the IT arena depends heavily on how much you
are helping people with what you write. That is what I do after all. I help people.
It is how I make my living.
The things I have experienced in my development career may help others and save
them some time. Other thoughts and ideas I have are just that - something to consider.
Many people rush in to Web development with a poor plan, poor strategy, and flat
out mis-understanding of what they are getting in to. It all seems so easy.
Just sit down and start pumping out the code. Before that can happen, we
must first spend some time outside the code.
I hope that sharing my development experiences with you assists you in making sound
decisions as well as saving you some time. I also include some of my personal interests
Outside the Code as well.
