Validating HTML to Solve AdSense Ad Problems and Increase Search Engine Ranking
|
|
|

Target Topic: Validating HTML to enhance search engine ranking and solve problems
with Google Ads appearing. Somewhat speculative but it can't hurt.
The AdSense Issue I
have been having on my other Website got
much better over the weekend. I have done a few things to try and solve the problem
and I am not sure exactly what did what. It is also the weekend and traffic will
be heavier this week. Nothing is set in stone yet.
On Saturday morning I awoke to find my Google Ads gone (again) on the two pages I have
been having problems with. None of the others. Desperate for anything that would
solve the problem, I started validating the HTML of those two pages to see if I had
any bad HTML errors that might be affecting the ads being served and overall ranking.
The service I used is the W3C HTML
Checker. For the record, opinions vary widely as to whether or not Google
penalizes you for poorly formatted HTML. Poorly formatted HTML does not stop google
from spidering your page - that's for sure. It may not even stop you from getting
a #1 ranking. However, some people claim emphatically that poorly formatted HTML
penalizes you. Others claim it makes no difference. Google is saying nothing as
far as I can tell.
If you are having problems getting ads to display on your Website then validating
the HTML is one
thing that you or the person developing your Website can try. OK, enough about code.
I found some very bad errors on the two pages I was having problems with. One of
those problems was so bad I could not believe the page was appearing correctly.
After I validated my pages, my ads came back and have stayed back. I don't know
if it made any ranking changes. As I mentioned the other day,
ranking changes often and a lot these days.
Again - I am not saying for sure that it fixed then problem but it may have. Regardless,
it can't hurt.
If you have a couple of pages that will not display ads or you are interested in doing
it just to see if it will change your ranking then try validating the
HTML.
