The other day I taked about letting your
search engine ranking come to you.
I also mentioned the unpredictable, rapid changes your rankings can see in
this day and age.
From that blog, I stated that my Website
EmpireHunting.com should be a good
candidate to rank well for the term "New York Hunting". Well, check this out.
Monday, July 21. 8:00 PM
Website is ranked 10th for the term "New York Hunting"
Tuesday, July 22. 11:00 PM
Website is ranked 5th for the term "New York Hunting"
Wedensday, July 23. 9:00 AM
Website is ranked 7th for the term "New York Hunting"
Up and down we go. Google crawls Websites a lot more frequently than the old days
especially if it detects that you often add new content. Your rankings can bounce
up and down rapidly. By that same standard, if you constantly add content, which is
a good thing, then you will likely see a constant shift in your rankings. There is
just no way to get a high ranking and keep a hold on it when the contents of your
home page and everyone else's home page is changing all the time.
You don't want to waste all your time/money trying to be #1 in Google folks.
The liklihood of staying there for long in this day and age is slim unless you are
in a very narrow market. Keep those search engine friendly pages coming to increase
the number of ranking options that you have and let the search engine stuff take
care of itself.
