Domains Everywhere

Several people own several different domain names. Often times they have been purchased with many different registrants. Over time, the email addresses they were registered with become disabled. Then you must fax in letters with identity information such as a drivers license just to get the email addresses on file updated.

Certainly domain names have come down in price in the last decade so it is understandable if someone has domains at Netwrok Solutions and others at GODaddy. But I find that many people have them here and there spread across domain name registrant land.

Having your domain names registered with several registrants can become an annoyance. For ease of accessing and managing your domain names, try and stick with one company so they appear under one account. That way you do not have to track down login information or go through extreme processes to update the contact information for the domain.

In addition, if you do not have experience purchasing domain names then it may be best to let your developer purchase them for you. The reason why I mention this is because of the shady dealings of domain registrants. They will clog their sales pages full of additional services and present it in such a way that you may get spooked in to buying something that you do not need. Unfortunately, this is the world we live in.
